Meetings are on the first wednesday of every month @ 16:00 in room 4B108, unless otherwise specified. They provide a chance to practice presentations, get friendly feedback and talk about anything interesting you've been up to. The meetings are also a chance for all of us to get together once a month and catch up and meet new students.
Presentations are an integral part of a PhD, and they can be a daunting task for anyone. PGTips gives you invaluable practice time for these, and we strongly encourage new students to bite the bullet and present a brief introduction to their work as soon as they can.
PGTips also gives us the space to ask questions about presentations. Asking questions in seminars is (as well as clarifying a point or finding out the answer to your burning question...) a great way to get yourself noticed by the speaker, and to strike up a rapport, which is always handy when suggesting external examiners or looking for jobs after the PhD...
This is the current schedule for pgtip talks. Please put your name down against a month you'd like to do...
